Quang Nam plans a non-tariff area of more than 751 hectares in Chu Lai open economic zone

The non-tariff area is planned to be associated with Tam Hoa port area in Chu Lai open economic zone with an expected planning area of more than 751 hectares.

The People’s Committee of Quang Nam province has just issued a document requesting the Ministry of Construction for comments on the Construction Subdivision Planning Project (scale 1/2,000) of the non-tariff area associated with Tam Hoa Port Area and Chu Lai Open Economic Zone. . with an area of 751 hectares.

Accordingly, the scope of project planning is within the administrative boundaries of Tam Hoa commune, Nui Thanh district. The Northeast border borders the Truong Giang River, the Southeast and Southwest borders An Hoa Bay, the Northwest borders Vo Chi Cong Street and the land strip that guides the planning of protective forests.

In terms of nature, the tariff area will be a traffic hub associated with the seaport; is a free trade center; industry and high technology; logistics, support, logistics, research and technology transfer services; is the area of export, import, temporary import, re-export, and transit of international goods.

Regarding land use planning:

  • Factory and warehouse (nearly 436 hectares);
  • Public, services (nearly 61 hectares);
  • Transport technical infrastructure (179 hectares);
  • Green trees (more than 75 hectares).

The planning area is divided into three subdivisions separated by North-South and East-West backbone routes.

Specifically, subdivision A (North of the planning area), is the area where manufacturing factories with scale and nature are located such as Export Processing Zones and Commercial Service Zones. Subdivision B (south of the planning area), is the area where manufacturing factories are located, with the scale and nature of an Industrial Park. Subdivision C (East of the planning area), is the Tam Hoa port area associated with the warehouse, wharf, and logistic services.

Previously, in December 2018, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung signed a decision approving the adjustment of the general planning for construction of Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, Quang Nam until 2035, with a vision to 2050.

In particular, areas according to the general planning of Chu Lai Open Economic Zone (approved in 2004) will be adjusted. Specifically, the non-tariff area with an area of 1,012 hectares will be adjusted in the direction of arranging an area attached to Chu Lai airport (225 hectares); an area attached to the Tam Hiep port area (40 hectares); an area attached to Tam Hoa port area (747 hectares).
